Obliquely zygomorphic

In Lecythidaceae, used to describe the symmetry of only species of Cariniana. There in one other type of zygomorphic flower in neotropical Lecythidaceae: zygomorphic which found in Couroupita, Corythophora, Couratari, Eschweilera, and Lecythis. An obliquely zygomorphic-flowered species differs from a zygmorphic species in that the androecium of the former has an extension on one side that arises from a staminal tube, in contrast, a zygomorphic-flowered species has an prolongation on one side, called a ligule, that arises from a donut-shaped, flat, staminal ring.
