SUMMARY
Canopy to emergent trees. Leaves scattered along branches, medium to large sized (6-30 cm long), glabrous; secondary venation distinctly percurrent. Inflorescences terminal or axillary, racemose or once-branched paniculate arrangements of racemes, growth of rachises determinate. Flowers present with leaves, actinomorphic, fleshy; sepals 5; petals 5; hooked at apices; androecium a fleshy tube, the stamens at margen of or scattered over inner surface of tube, reflexed, the anthers laterally dehiscent; ovary 3-locular except (3)4-5-locular in A. lineata, ovules often 10-12, sometimes numerous, attached through middle of locule (this needs to be confirmed), the style without stylar collar. Fruit dehiscent, remaining on tree at maturity, cylindric, pericarp relatively thick. Seeds unilaterally winged, numerous, not flattened, not embedded in pulp, the testa glabrous; cotyledons absent.
