Description: 

Leaves of the eastern Brazilian species of Cariniana. All shown in abaxial views except C. ianeirensis which is in adaxial view. Note that the leaves of C. legalis and C. parvifolia are the only species of Cariniana that consistently have revolute leaf blade bases. These domatia are present in fresh leaves from a very early age and appear to be occupied by mites (S. A. Mori, field observatons).
