Specimen image

Primary tabs

An image taken of the parts of the plant that will compose the specimen deposited in the herbarium after the collection is mounted. This specimen should show what the specimens look like before being dried and mounted and/or added to the fruit collection.

Notes:

The specimen image should be taken with the plant parts placed on a colored cloth (we use blue). In the case of large-fruited Lecythidaceae, such as Lecythis pisonis, the leaves and fruits are photographed together. In the herbarium, the leaves will be archived as a herbarium sheet and the fruits will be archived in the fruit collection. A ruler should always be added to the image and, ideally, the name of the species and the voucher collection data should be added to the image.
